Information For Participants

We invite all RMS students to join us on or behind the stage!

Participation in the drama production is a popular RMS tradition, and with a no-cut PTSA activity policy, all of the first 20 registered cast students, and the first 10 registered crew students, with payment and/or a scholarship request will be guaranteed a spot. Registration and payments will not be accepted early. Registration online opens December 9 at 10am  and will be available until space is filled, or December 17 at 10pm, whichever comes first.

Student participation also involves the following parent volunteer commitments:

  1. Attend the MANDATORY parent meeting on December 8, 7:00 PM on Teams: https://tinyurl.com/DramaInfoMeeting
  2. Be a RMS PTSA member (scholarships available)
  3. Be an approved LWSD volunteer (Application online)
  4. Chaperone at least 2 rehearsals. Participate on a committee to help with the production (see below)

Please review the important dates, calendar and parent volunteer commitments to determine if this activity is a good fit for your family. A schedule of specific rehearsal call times for cast and crew members will be made available at the beginning of each week during the rehearsal period. Cast members may not be called to attend rehearsal every day. Production Crew members work on Wednesday afternoons. Limited conflicts are allowed during rehearsals; however, no conflicts are allowed from February 28 through the final performance on March 5.

Production Participation FAQ’s

Who can participate in the production?

All RMS students are invited to participate. In addition, those students who are home schooled or attend a choice school, but live within the RMS attendance area, may participate upon request.

Can I participate in season 3 sports and the musical? Because of extensive schedule conflicts, students participating in LWSD season 3 athletics (co-ed wrestling, girls basketball) will not be available to participate in the musical.

What are the participant’s fees?

The fee, payable to RMS PTSA, is due with registration as follows:

  • $130 for cast members (on stage)
  • $30 for production crew members (set and prop design, and backstage)
  • Full and partial PTSA scholarships are available to qualifying families.

How do I register?

An email with the registration link will be sent to the address provided at the parent meeting. Once registration is confirmed, another email will follow with audition information.

What if I have other activities that I’m committed to?

Occasional conflicts are allowed, but substantial conflicts may affect the role offered. A conflict calendar will be filled out in conjunction with your audition form. If it’s difficult to commit to three rehearsal days each week, consider joining the tech crew, which meets on Wednesdays only.

What are the Parent committees I can choose from?

Help where you like! Choose from the following committees: Crew Leaders, Makeup & Hair, Load-in & Strike, Design & Publicity, Concessions & Star Grams, and Cast & Crew Party. Detailed descriptions of committee responsibilities and sign-ups will be available at the Parent Meeting on December

Do I need to have acting, singing, or dancing experience?

Firstly, because of restrictions on singing, this year's performance will not be a musical. Second, you do not need to have any previous acting experience. This school play is a great place to try out theater and see if you like it!

What are your covid safety protocols?

We will be following similar protocol to the LWSD protocols for health.  Students and adult volunteers will wear masks at all times and will be required to attest that they are healthy and have not been in contact with someone positive for covid-19 when they sign in to attend rehearsal.  Please, report to Danielle or Cindy if you have symptoms or test positive for covid and we will review with you the procedures for when you can safely return to rehearsal.  All participants will be notified if someone at rehearsal tests positive for covid and close contacts will be notified and given instructions on how to proceed.   I good rule of thumb is when you are safe to return to school, you are safe to return to rehearsal.  See our detailed protocol here.

I have another question! Who do I ask?

Please email Producers Danielle K. and Cindy G. with your questions at dramachair@rmsptsa.org

We hope your family can join us to create this dramatic masterpiece!
