• March Book Madness brackets are available in the library. Only people who complete a bracket are eligible for prizes! Brackets are due by Thursday. The entire bracket is posted on the bulletin board next to the library.

 

  • Reminder to all wrestlers that we have an away game today and you need to be in the gym right after school we are leaving at 2:30.

 

  • Interested students can sign up for Season 4 sports during your lunch time today though Wednesday (3/7). Season 4 sports options include volleyball for 6th grade girls, basketball for 6th grade boys, tennis for 6th/7th/8th grade girls or track for everyone. Athletes will need to have all paperwork and payments turned in by Friday March 23rd.

 

  • Congratulations to the following winners of the One Fish, Two Fish contest last week: for the 6th grade Ryan Agutelo was closest with 420, for the 7th grade Renedia Asobo also guest 420, For the 8th grade Gael Leyva was closest with 350, and from the Staff Ms. Underwood was closest with 405. Make sure you stop by the library to get your prize.

 

  • Congratulations to the following students that earned a place in the State NHD Contest in April:
    • Abel Dagne placed 5th for his documentary about the Battle of Adwa
    • Mandira Ghanti & Eesha Kunisetty placed 2nd for their performance about Epperson v. Arkansas - the fight to teach evolution in schools
    • Justin Humphreys, Pauline Saveliev, and Julia Liu place 2nd for their documentary about Agent Orange
    • Zayna Aarbi won 1st place for her performance about the Kashmir Conflict
    • Krish Jain won 1st place for his website about the Partition of India

 

  • This week we will be talking about Whitworth University where Mr. Williams went for his undergraduate and Educational Administration program. Whitworth is a small, private institution located in Spokane with about 3,000 students. It is also affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. 
    • Whitworth was founded in 1890 in Sumner, then moved to Tacoma in 1899. The college did not move to Spokane until 1914.  It has a 12:1 student-faculty ratio and mascot is a pirate.
